I am a member of the Article Writing Challenge group over on Facebook. It is a fun and friendly collective and the main aim is to write one article a day for 30 days and share your links with the group.
I thought that I would put together a list of 10 Reasons why you should seriously consider signing up to be a member.
#1 – You Meet Great People Online
When a challenge is set up well, you have the opportunity of meeting new people online. This is certainly the case with the Article Writing Challenge over on Facebook. It is organised by the lovely Bonnie Gean and the members of the group are friendly, welcoming and fun to get to know.
#2 – You Become Part of A Community
If you have an online business or you work from home, it can get a little lonely at times. Being part of a writing challenge group means that there is always someone to check in with. You can pop into the Facebook group to say hello and there is always someone there who will respond with a kind word or three.
#3 – You Can Learn About New Gadgets & Gizmos
There are so many ways that you can improve your online experience. When you are part of a group, different members can introduce you to useful tools that you didn’t know existed. They can even provide you with fantastic tutorials so you know how to use these newly discovered gadgets.
#4 – You Can Get Motivated to Actually Write Something
It can be really easy to give up on your writing dreams if you feel there is no reason to write. Part of being in a challenge means that you can gain inspiration from others. Simply knowing that others are managing to get a new post or article written can spur you on to believe that you can also get things done too.
#5 – You Can Get Article Post Ideas
Have you ever sat down at your computer and been stumped for a topic to write about? Well, if you are part of an article writing challenge, you can get fresh ideas for your writing. This can come from reading other people’s posts and then using the same theme for your own posts. Or there might be a particular theme for that month so everyone is writing on the same topic but in a way that is relevant for their own blog and followers.
#6 – You Can Get Visitors to Your Blog
Well if you join a writing challenge, members of the group will be happy to visit your blog and read your posts. This is not because they have to. People are happy to read and get to know each other. It is lovely to know that someone knows you exist online.
#7 – You Can Get Comments on Your Blog Posts
Do you have a blog full of wonderful articles but hardly a whisper of a comment except for spammers? Receiving comments on your blog posts can be such a validating experience and this will encourage you to want to write and share even more posts. Comments can also provide you with even more ideas for future articles.
#8 – You Can Get Your Posts Shared
Joining a writing challenge provides you with several opportunities to share your posts with others. You can add your link to the Facebook group where others can see it. Then the other members can share your posts with their own group of friends on Facebook and on other types of social media. It is a great feeling to get an email alert to say that someone has tweeted or retweeted your blog post link.
#9 – You Can Get Great Advice & Feedback
If you ever have a problem, a question or need advice on something online related, there is a lovely community that is happy to help you. Even if your questions aren’t internet related, people will happily share their experience, their expertise and their opinions with you.
#10 – It’s Fun, Free & You Can Join Any Time
There is no entrance fee. All you have to do is sign up, introduce yourself to the community and take part. Absolutely no pressure at all. If you can manage 30 articles in 30 days, fantastic. If you only manage 5 articles for the month, that is still a great achievement, maybe more than what you have written the previous month.
Writing doesn’t have to be a lonely pursuit. You can use the group as a way break up your day. Pop in, say hi, leave your link and visit other people’s posts. There is no pressure to get 30 articles done in 30 days. I still have to achieve this goal. But I like to think that joining this group has helped me to write more posts than I might have and it has given me some great ideas – like writing this post
