3 Reasons To Use LinkedIn for Your Business

Do You Use LinkedIn for Your Business

Is LinkedIn Part of Your Business Strategy?

LinkedIn is a social networking service that is specifically geared towards professional people. People who are looking for work or who are looking to promote their services use their account to connect with individuals who can help them or who share their common interests.

Check out this short video for 3 simple reasons why you should think about setting up an account with LinkedIn.

How Important is LinkedIn for Your Business?

There are so many social networking sites that each one has to stand out from the crowd. I think LinkedIn does this by concentrating on the business focussed individual. Here are 3 of the benefits of creating a LinkedIn account.

#1 – It is a Business Oriented Social Networking Platform

LinkedIn is a social networking service for business people. It is a great way to connect with others in your industry. There are now so many websites where you upload your CV in order to apply for a job. LinkedIn allows you to do this but you can then look through and get in touch with companies that might be looking to hire.

I think that if you use the paid version, you can do a whole lot more and LinkedIn can be really beneficial to your career.

#2 – It is a Grown Up Version of Facebook

Facebook is great for lower level or informal social interaction. If you like to update your profile status with details of your food intake, what your cat is currently doing and just how loudly the person sitting on the train is snoring, then Facebook is perfect for that.

LinkedIn tends to attract a higher level of conversation. It is mostly business led where people are looking to promote, share or ask questions about specific industry related stuff.

I have joined a couple of LinkedIn Groups for writers but I am not particularly active there so am not sure of the benefits.

#3 – It Can Be a Great Way To Attract Clients & Business

If you have a CV uploaded on the site, you are in a great position to promote your services and business. Connect with the right people and you could find possible job openings.

A lot of local and global businesses are also advertising on the site so you could also sign up and receive daily email alerts with new job opportunities that are either online and offline.

Where I am At with LinkedIn

This is my LinkedIn link – Would love for you to connect with me :)

I set up my LinkedIn account and added my details. I started to connect with people and share my blog posts. Then I just stopped. I am not really sure how to really utilise this platform for the best outcome so I haven’t really tried.

I know that it could do lots for you but I just do the bare minimum at the moment.  I have just updated my details and included the link to this blog.  Lots to do, so little time ;)

One thing I have noticed. It seems to rank well in Google. So that is another benefit right?

3 Basic Tips on Using Pinterest

Do You Use Pinterest

Do You Use Pinterest for Your Business?

Pinterest has only been around since 2010. It is a networking site with a difference. You can share your pictures and almost any picture you see on the web. You can create different types of collections and people can share your pictures with others.

Pinterest has been identified as a favourite site for women and a lot of people have been very successful in using this tool as part of their marketing and money making campaign.

Watch the video below for the 3 simple reasons why you should think about using Pinterest.

3 Beginner’s Steps to Using Pinterest

These are the 3 most basic things you should do if you are thinking about adding Pinterest to your social networking campaign.

#1 – Add a Pinterest Plugin to Your Blog

Back in the day, like a year ago, (lol), you used to have to copy and paste images if you wanted them to show up on different sites. Now you can add a Pinterest plugin to your blog and the hard work is done. All you have to do is hover over an image, click the “pin it” button and it will be transported over to your account.

Set up different collections so that similar images are placed together.

Fans of Pinterest will also love the ease with which they can add your fun images to their own Pinterest collections.

#2 – Share Your Pictures

Now that you have the plugin all set up on your blog, it is time to share your pictures. Add them to your own account. Once you connect with other Pinterest users, they will like your images and share them for you.

The great thing is that your images are connected to your website. So if someone clicks on the image, they can find out where the pictures originated and end up on your site. This is another way to get traffic to your site.

#3 – Share Other People’s Pictures

The more you interact with Pinterest and other pinners, the more success you will have with people viewing your images and visiting your site. It is always a good idea to share the love. Find images that you like, which are similar to your own, and add them to your collection.

Where I Am At with Pinterest

I have to be honest and say that I know very little about this site. I have added the plugin, I have shared my pictures and other peoples pictures. Every now and then I get email notifications that someone has re-pinned one of my pictures , that they are following me or they have left a comment underneath an image.

I don’t know how I am to react to this so I end up doing nothing :(

I have read stories about how people are making a great income using this resource but I think that you have to know quite a bit about how it works for it to be effective.

At the moment I am happy to use it as another way to share my little messages out there through the medium of Art, or whatever you want to called the little images I add to my posts :)

Is that how it works, cos I really don’t know.  I understand that Pinterest is a powerful tool and maybe I should take the time to learn more.  There are plenty of courses out there. Maybe you could point me in the right direction.

3 Reasons to Use Google Plus

DoYou Use Google Plus

Are You Friends with Google Plus?

Google Plus or Google + is part of the Big Google family. Many people already have a gmail account. This is how I was introduced to this networking platform. It took me a while to get into it but I like it.

Check out the video where I highlight 3 reasons why you should look at Google Plus.

Are You a Google Plus User?

Here are 3 simple reasons for you to consider using Google Plus as part of your social media and community growing campaign.

#1 – It is a Great Way to Share Your Posts

Google Plus is a similar networking tool to Facebook because you can share your posts with people.

You can connect with others and create, what is called “Circles”. You can divide up the people you know and separate then under appropriate titles like family, online marketers, rock music fans, writers, coaches, service providers, Doctor Who fans, Whatever you like. No-one can see the names you give to your circles.

These groupings work well because you can decide who you want to share specific posts and information with. You can also write social updates like Facebook but I don’t think many people do that.

#2 – It is Connected with the Biggest Search Engine

Google Plus is part of the Google family and as such has a lot of power. It makes sense to connect with an online tool that could help promote you, your business and your brand. When you publish something and share it via Google Plus, it gets indexed quite quickly so using this platform has to be worth your time for that alone right?

#3 – You Can Host Google Hangouts!

Google Hangouts are a bit like broadcasting your own live TV show. You can invite people to watch and take part. The whole thing is recorded and as soon as you are done, you can upload it to YouTube (which Google also owns) and it can be made available for the whole world to see.

The benefits of using this tool is that you can reach a lot of people. It is cheaper than signing up to a webinar service to do the same thing.

Google Hangouts is still fairly new to me. I have not hosted one and I have not taken part in a live event. I look forward to doing both in the near future.

Where I am At Now

I have had an account for while but I have just opened up a brand new one under my full name and connected it with this blog.

I still have lots to learn about how to use Google Plus to the best advantages. I am happy to pop in and see some great posts that people have shared. If you have any tips on how to best use this platform I would love to hear.
