Mariah – A Flash Fiction Story

Mariah loved her name. She loved knowing that the name belonged to a famous singer. Her mother had admired Mariah Carey’s beauty and talent and had hoped that by bestowing the name on her child, that same beauty and talent would be gifted to her.

Alas, the opposite was true. Little Mariah wasn’t a child that you would call classically beautiful.

Her eyes were a little too big for her head. Her mouth was a little crooked and her ears stuck out.

It was also true to say that little Mariah could not hold a tune. But the one thing this young lady had was enthusiasm and an abundance of joy.

You couldn’t help but smile when she entered a room. Mariah just had a way of making people happy.
