Queenie – A Flash Fiction Story

Queenie sat in the pub corner with her sherry. Every Thursday, her pensioners’ club met for arts and crafts.

Their current project was creating a patchwork quilt for the children’s hospital. She loved the club, but she loved their post-craft tipple even more.

Drinking at home felt wrong since Vincent, her beloved husband of 42 years, had passed. These gatherings were a blessing, filling the silence he left behind.

Queenie took a sip, whispering, “This one’s for you, Vincent.”

She smiled, turning back to the conversation around her, grateful for friendship, routine, and the simple joy of a shared drink.
