Yolanda – A Flash Fiction Story

Yolanda arrived twenty minutes early for her interview. She walked into the building and headed for a door. It was locked.

Confused, she peered through the window at an empty space. A faint voice spoke.

“Hello? Behind you.”

Turning, she saw a reception desk with a woman seated behind it. Yolanda cringed.

“I’m so sorry! I walked straight past. I’m here for an interview.”

The woman smiled. “Name?”
“Karen Taylor.”
“Not the manager’s name, your name.”

Yolanda blushed. She wasn’t making a great first impression. She sighed, hoping the rest of the day would go better than this.
