Thomasina – A Flash Fiction Story

Thomasina felt the water soak through the sole of her left shoe. She had tried stuffing it with newspapers, but it hadn’t worked.

She could feel the cold water creep and seep into her sock. The shoes were old. She had purchased them from the charity shop. She needed plain black shoes for work and couldn’t afford to buy a brand new pair. They had done the trick for a while.

It worked out well during the sunny days. But the rain couldn’t be held at bay. The glue had finally given up, and the tread on the bottom of the shoe was worn away to almost nothing.
