Quentin checked how much money he had in his pockets. He was hungry and knew he had to eat something before he started his shift at work.
He discovered that he only had enough to buy a cup of coffee. He could go to the cashpoint, but that would mean having an overdraft. He couldn’t afford the fees on top of what he already owed.
He shook his head in disappointment. This was supposed to be the land of opportunity, but it didn’t feel that way to him. He wandered off in the direction of the local cafe, hoping the coffee would keep the hunger at bay.
