Etta looked at the sheet of paper she had stuck on her bedroom door. It was a list of the goals she wanted to achieve for the year.
It included countries that she wanted to visit, the restaurants she had wanted to try, and the books she had wanted to read.
For the first three months of the year, all had been going well. She had visited Pisa and Florence in Italy.
She had spent a couple of days in Barcelona, Spain, and she had enjoyed a transatlantic cruise from Liverpool all the way to New York.
Then everything changed.
The whole world had closed down, and life would never be the same again.
