Heather – A Flash Fiction Story

Heather was flustered. She was almost ready, but she felt nervous. She was hosting a 1970s-inspired dinner party and wanted everything to be perfect. Her friends were always supportive of her wild ideas, but tonight was different.

This was the night she would introduce her boyfriend, Gerald, to the gang. They all knew about him, but they’d never met him.

She hoped it would go well. Gerald stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her.

“Today will be perfect, my love,” he whispered, kissing the top of her head.

Heather sighed and smiled, then noticed his wedding ring. Her smile faltered.
