Katherine – A Flash Fiction Story

Katherine hated her name. Her mum insisted that she introduced herself as Katherine. She was never Kate or Kat.

The reason was because her mum thought they were posh. But they lived on an East end council estate in London.

Not posh.

Katherine felt her mum was trying to prove she was better than everyone else. But she just wanted to fit in. She wanted to be like the other girls on the estate, like Tracy and Keisha.

Her brother was lucky. His name was John. He had no problem fitting in but Katherine felt like an outsider, a misfit.
