Lilliana – A Flash Fiction Story

Lilliana was distraught. She crumpled down onto the step; the letters she held scattered onto the floor.

They all had a bright red stamp pressed on the front stating ‘Final Demand’ and ‘Immediate Payment Required.’.

How could this be, she thought. Jeff was making good money. She was making good money. He had always been the organised one.

Lilliana had been happy to hand over the financial reins to him. He had controlled their money ever since they got married.

So where did these bills come from, and why were there so many?

She didn’t want to cry, but a tear escaped and fell on her cheek as she shook her head in disbelief.
