Lorna – A Flash Fiction Story

Lorna was excited to sing the lead at the church choir. She had practiced the song for weeks. When the musical director held the auditions, she knew it was between her and Keisha.

Keisha had a beautiful voice, and she had been the chosen one for the last three solo performances. Lorna believed that she was just as good and hoped the director thought so too.

Her audition went like a dream. Everyone clapped and smiled, and twenty minutes later, she was awarded the lead role.

This morning, Lorna took her place at the front of the group. She looked over and saw the happy faces of her mum, dad, and sister. The music started. She took a deep breath and sang.
