The things you see while walking through London
During today’s lunchtime walk in London, I spotted a couple of bright red Royal Mail post boxes.
This reminded me of the time when I needed to send a friend a birthday card.
I had left it to the last moment to buy a birthday card so I knew that I needed to get it in the first class post.
First class post usually means that your letter arrives the next day.
I asked a colleague if they had a stamp as I didn’t have time to run to the post office.
I was shocked at how much it was.
The stamp cost £1.25.
It has been a while since I have sent a letter by snail mail, so the price was a bit of a shock.
Once I had recovered, I headed out to the post box outside my office building, had a quick look to see what time the next collection would be.
This information is written on the box.

How annoying! I had missed the collection time.
So I ended up having to run to the post office in the end so that I could get the birthday card sent in the final post of the day.
Good News.
I received a lovely text message on the day of my friend’s birthday.
The card arrived on time.
