Victor – A Flash Fiction Story

Victor sat up in bed, wondering what that noise was. He realised it was coming from the kitchen. He looked over and saw the door was a little ajar.

Grabbing his dressing gown, he headed towards the sound of clinking plates and cutlery. He could now smell oil cooking in a pan. Victor inhaled as he entered the kitchen, and he had to smile.

There she was, 7 months pregnant, standing over the cooker. She looked up.

“Morning, hun. I wanted to surprise you.”

Victor looked at the kitchen counter and saw a pile of pancakes. He laughed. She was having one of her cravings again.

“Happy Belated Pancake Day!”
