Willa – A Flash Fiction Story

Willa looked at her computer and blinked. She was sure there was some mistake. She refreshed the page and looked again. The same figure appeared on the screen.

Willa was checking her premium bonds account. It was an account where she saved £25 each week. The account didn’t provide any interest on savings. Instead, the saver had the possibility of winning cash. It was like entering the lottery without actually losing money.

Willa looked at the balance of her account. The last time she checked it, she had just over £19,000 saved.

Now it said £520,000.

Willa was a winner! She had won half a million pounds. She refreshed the screen again.

And again.
And again.
